What Are the Best Backyard Birthday Party Games for Kids in Wichita Falls?
Your kids' birthday rolls around every year, and every year you swear you'll plan better next year. You gotta send out invites, get a cake ordered, and for real, what are these kids gonna do for 2-3 hours that doesn't kill you?! While we can't fix it all, we've got the entertainment covered; by age group, by chaos level, and by "I just wanna talk to another adult for 5 minutes uninterrupted."
Quick (Boring) Answer:
| Age Range | Best Games | Why It Works |
|---|---|---|
| Little Kids (3-6) | Giant Connect 4, Tetris Tumble XL | Easy to pick up, big plastic pieces |
| Big Kids (7-10) | Backyard Nerf Battle, Cornhole, Ladder Toss | Easy to play, active but don't require athleticism |
| Tweens & Teens (11-18) | Popdarts, Spikeball, Giant Tumbling Tower | More coordination, can get competitive, great for tournaments |
| Whole Family | Cornhole, Popdarts, Giant Connect 4 | Fun for kids and grandparents |
But Really, Rent The Backyard Nerf Battle
We could have just left this one buried in the Big Kids row up there and called it a day, but we're not gonna do that because the Backyard Nerf Battle isn't just another item on a list. It's the entertainment that people are still talking about a week later. 20 various blasters, inflatable barriers, and more foam darts than you'd ever want to pick up by yourself. Kids go feral. Adults who "were just gonna watch" grab a blaster and end up crouching behind barriers with their knees sticking out after 10 minutes. If you're only renting one thing, this is the one.
**Want to kick it up a notch? Add Make It Ultimate for Team Headbands (to stop friendly fire), 10 more blasters, more barriers, and more darts.
What About Food?
Obviously there are always the go to hotdogs or pizza. Those are easy. But what if you don't want to do the same ol' same ol'? It doesn't matter how old the birthday "kid" is, a real snow cone, fresh popcorn, or real cotton candy turns "yard with some games in it" into an actual event. They're not tied to any age group up there because they don't need to be. Everybody eats! Check out the full lineup on our Party Essentials page.
While The Kids Are Entertained
"Are you not entertained?!" Here's the part nobody puts in the birthday party blog posts: the party doesn't have to ONLY be for the kids. While they are all out shooting each other with nerf guns and hammering all the popcorn, gather the parents around the Frozen Beverage Machine...(loudly whispers) maybe with some margaritas in it... and pull out something like Cards Against Humanity or Never Have I Ever (both 18+), and really get to know the other parents! The kids are all having fun. You've done your job. You earned this.
